This most beloved and widely read Pulitzer Prize winner, now in it’s 50th year of publication, tells the extraordinary and unforgettable story of life in the American Deep South through the inquiring eyes of a child.

THE ONE THING THAT DOESN’T ABIDE BY MAJORITY RULE IS A PERSON’S CONSCIENCE”  Atticus Finch

Brother and sister Jem and Scout Finch are growing up during the 1930s depression but their idyllic childhood innocence is shattered with the realisation that bigotry and prejudice rule in their small town of Maycomb, Alabama. When their father Atticus defends a young black man falsely accused of raping a white woman, the whole family become the target of gossip and abuse.

Set in America’s scorching Deep South at a time when racial tensions were at an all time high, the challenging and uncomfortable issues this classic addresses are as relevant today as they were when the book was first written.

Following his critically acclaimed performance in The Touring Consortium’s 2007 production of To Kill A Mockingbird, Duncan Preston is recreating his role as the iconic lawyer Atticus Finch. Duncan is probably best known for his recent appearance in Emmerdale, as well as the hugely popular tv series Dinner Ladies and Surgical Spirit and his starring role in the award winning musical Acorn Antiques with Victoria Wood.
